Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum of modern and contemporary art to reopen in September
AMSTERDAM — The director of Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum says the famed site of modern and contemporary art will reopen to the public in its permanent location on Museum Square on Sept. 23.
Director Ann Goldstein said in a statement Wednesday that the museum’s reopening will feature an exposition with works by Carl Andre, Rodney Graham, Joan Jonas, Melvin Moti and Diana Thater.
The museum also holds late 19th century and 20th century works by Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Chagall, Matisse, and Mondriaan, among others.
The museum building, which dates to 1895, has been undergoing renovation since 2004. The building has been partially open during much of the time, and it has held expositions in other locations around the city.
