Officials at the Palace of Versailles outside Paris have announced plans for an exhibition of works by Korean artist Lee Ufan next year. The show, which is due to open in June, will be curated by Alfred Pacquement who this month left his post as head of the Musée d’Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Ufan, the co-founder of the 1960s Mono Ha (object school) movement in Japan, is known for his stark, minimalist paintings and sculptures that comprise natural elements. The French magazine Le Point says: “After the exuberant works of Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Joana Vasconcelos [who have all previously exhibited there], the Ufan exhibition, overseen by the director Catherine Pégard, will probably be more meditative.”

Ufan is represented by the Paris-based gallery Kamel Mennour and Lisson Gallery of London.
